Biography: Mrs. Filipour tries to provide her clients with the information they need to develop reasonable expectations and to evaluate their options in the form of cost-benefit analysis. From the outset, she tries to achieve results consistent with the client's reasonable expectations as quickly and cost effectively as possible. Mrs. Filipour's goal, in each divorce case, is for her clients to emerge from the divorce process better able to deal with their children, their former spouse and their own lives. Sometimes this involves pointing out to a client how his or her behavior contributes to the problems he or she is experiencing. Mrs. Filipour encourages fair and reasonable levels of cooperation when the other spouse acts in good faith. On the other hand, Mrs. Filipour does not hesitate to use the Courts to provide her clients the tools necessary to deal with an unfair or dishonest spouse. Mrs. Filipour has, on several occasions, obtained favorable custody decisions for her clients despite the neutral custody evaluator (psychologist) recommending a custody arrangement which was not favorable to her client. She has also obtained custody for many fathers and successfully prosecuted or defended appeals to the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court.
